Kate glanced at the dog as she continued walking toward her car. It wasn’t unusual to see strays around, so she didn’t stop. Still, she couldn’t help but wonder why it was there, lying so quietly. As she unlocked her car, she glanced back once more. The dog hadn’t moved, its eyes following her. Shrugging it off, Kate got into the car and drove away.
