Carl quickly turned and, together with his team, ran back into the tunnel from which they had entered. It was a long route back to the surface, but they had to try and escape. Their footsteps were swift, and without being caught, they reached the first bend in the tunnel, a checkpoint, it felt like. But before they could maneuver past it, they were halted by the old man’s voice.
