Kate’s tone sharpened. “He neglected a rescue dog at my shop. I filed charges against him. How is he still practicing?” Brianna’s stomach turned. The receptionist hadn’t said anything. Had they all been fooled? “He probably snuck his way back in,” Kate muttered. “You know how these towns are. But I’m telling you now—don’t trust him. He’s not who you think.”
