They followed the pipe for a few yards. More metal debris littered the tunnel floor—broken valves, bolts, and cables. “Someone built this whole system,” Tom said, voice low. “It’s not natural. This was man-made.” Charles’s mind raced. Had someone used his land for something… without his knowledge? And why was that?
