Lucas couldn’t believe that someone could live in here. The man didn’t answer right away. He looked like he hadn’t spoken to anyone in a long time. His lips were cracked, his eyes glassy. He nodded faintly. Lucas took a step forward. “I’m here to help. I didn’t know anyone was still inside.” The man leaned against the doorframe, clearly weak. His beard was overgrown, his fingers trembling.
