The vet’s office sat tucked between a laundromat and a bakery. She hurried inside, the smell of antiseptic and pet shampoo filling her nose. Milo buried his head into her neck and refused to look up. The receptionist gave a polite smile and pointed her to the waiting room. Lilly kept glancing at the glass door. But the Jeep never returned.
