Holding it gently, she stood again, the scarf forming a makeshift sling against her chest. “I’ll help you,” she murmured, with a soft voice. But as she stepped back onto the trail, the hairs on her arms stood up. There it was again. It felt like something, or someone, was watching her from the shadows, just out of sight.
