It was an odd thing to say. What did he mean by “what was down there”? Abby looked toward the sinkhole again, now surrounded by barriers and personnel. To the people who lived here, it looked like a deep hole. Dangerous, yes. But other than that, just dirt and darkness. The question made her wonder, though. Did they know something no one else did?
