Liam didn’t move for a few seconds, stunned by the calm, patient stare of the creature. There was no threat in that eye—just presence. He glanced down at the rest of the muddy body. The humming it made sounded so sad. It needed Liam’s help; he was now sure of it. Liam braced himself and pressed one arm deep under the creature’s side, feeling around for leverage.
