A complete nest

Bit by bit, the crack widened. The chick twisted inside, pressing against the sides. Tiny claws poked out. Then, with a final jolt, the shell split and the bird tumbled onto the towel, damp and trembling. It blinked instinctively, though its eyes remained mostly closed, and nestled toward the warmth of the others. The sixth was born. The nest was complete.
