Two months passed, and the birds grew faster than Laura ever expected. They had long outgrown the towel nest, then the kitchen table, and finally, the house altogether. Their legs had stretched tall and sturdy, and their wingspan now measured wider than Laura’s outstretched arms. She moved them to the laundry room for a time, then the garage, but even that didn’t last long.
