Emily felt her chest tighten as they stepped into the green. Thick vines looped through low branches, and the air was dense with humidity. Footprints were hard to find, but she kept looking. “It’s too quiet,” she whispered. Something about this place pressed on her. Not in a supernatural way—just in a deliberate one. Like something or somebody didn’t want them here.
