It was ten minutes past closing when the two clerks began their routine. Nora mopped near the entrance while Claire checked inventory at the back. The store was quiet, humming with the low buzz of lights and coolers. The last customer had left almost fifteen minutes earlier. At least, that’s what they thought. They had no idea someone was still inside.
