Now that she had her baby back, Mara was calmer. When Rosa approached with the milk bottle, Mara didn’t swat or growl. Instead, she watched with cautious eyes, allowing her to come closer. Rosa knelt slowly and fed the gibbon again. Mara stayed close, one hand protectively over the baby’s belly, the other brushing its fur. “She’s letting us help now,” Rosa whispered.
