And gibbons were social too—they needed their own kind. “When she’s older,” the vet said, “we’ll slowly reintroduce her to her species. Maybe she’ll be accepted again.” But that was a problem for another time. For now, they had stability. They had peace. And the baby had a mother—against all odds.
