They reached a small clearing surrounded by thick, dark bushes. “I think we stopped here,” Elise said. “I remember that weird rock.” A gray boulder sat half-buried in the dirt, shaped like a mushroom cap. “Let’s rest,” Anna said, lowering her bag. They sat, shared a granola bar, and soaked in the silence. A breeze rustled the bushes, just enough to raise goosebumps.
