Ross nodded slowly. “It started with high winds. We were five days out from Lisbon when the storm struck. First, just rain. Then it turned violent. A full-blown hurricane formed above us, pushing the ship west. We lost steering on the third day. Communications failed next. Eventually, we drifted—blinded—into this cove. A jagged reef below tore into the hull. We’ve been stuck ever since.”
