“Some wanted to swim,” the captain said. “We argued over it. In the end, six crew members tried. Each time, the currents dragged them under. We never saw them again. After that, no one else dared. We sealed ourselves inside, blocked off the worst-flooded areas, and rationed supplies. We kept each other alive—barely. But it felt like the ocean wanted us to vanish.”
