Touching land again

The last to arrive were helped ashore by the two surfers. Tears flowed freely. Mason fell to the sand beside two exhausted women, both clinging to each other. A man dropped to his knees and kissed the wet ground. Emergency teams would arrive soon. But for now, the storm was behind them. And land—solid, warm, and safe—was beneath their feet once more.
