Minutes passed. Then almost an hour. The dirt pile beside them grew taller. “He must’ve buried it deep,” Keller muttered. Just as Luke was about to suggest a break, his shovel hit something solid. “Wait—did you hear that?” he asked. Keller knelt beside the hole, brushing dirt away with his bare hands. A dull metallic edge began to show through the soil.
