Suddenly, without any lead up to it, the reindeer jerked back, snorted, and reared onto its hind legs. Andrew stumbled away and almost fell to the ground again. The animal’s calm demeanor from seconds ago had vanished. Andrew held his arms up, backing toward the sidewalk. “What’s going on?” he whispered. The serenity was gone—now replaced by raw energy and confusion.
