When Andrew closed his eyes, it wasn’t out of courage—it was fear. He might panic if he looked again and saw those massive antlers any closer. His hands began to tremble, so he clenched them into fists. He imagined himself invisible, just a tree stump or a stone. “Don’t move,” he whispered again, hoping the words would somehow reach his muscles so they kept still.
