Inside, the water grew darker and colder. The outer room that was visible above the ocean floor level was cramped and empty, just a wide entry hall with layered stone walls. But Eli could tell this wasn’t it. This small section above the seabed was just a mask—the building was only the tip of a much larger structure, most of it buried beneath layers of sediment and time.
