Arriving at the appartment

The drive to Dr. Merritt’s place was quiet, filled with a tension that neither of them broke. It was a modest apartment on the second floor of an older building, surrounded by trees and partly hidden from the main road. Once inside, he closed the blinds and ushered her to a cluttered workbench surrounded by odd devices, tools, and what looked like broken drones.
